Hi, I’m Sara Dee

Once, when I was a little girl, I fell down and got pretty scraped up. I sat there feeling stuck until someone came along to help me stand up, brush myself off, and get moving toward home, where I could start to heal. My philosophy for therapy is a reflection of that experience. When we feel stuck (whether it be in mind, body, or spirit, or all of the above) we may feel helpless, frustrated, or hopeless. We don’t quite know how to get moving again. My desire as a therapist is to create a safe and genuine space where you can show up, exactly as you are, with your wounds and stuckness… zero judgement. I am committed to helping you establish clarity, shed burdens, and build momentum so that you can get moving toward hope and healing.

My belief is that each individual is of great worth and that you have the capability to create a life that is rich and whole. I will work to enhance our therapeutic rapport through unconditional care and positive regard for you. I will show up in every session with empathy, attentiveness, creativity, and genuineness. So often, our thoughts, behaviors, coping skills, and relationships are not congruent with who we truly are. We will work to explore those strongholds. I will empower you to become your own agent of change, free from reactivity that has resulted from your difficult past and/or current life experiences and circumstances.

I utilize evidence-based methods such as EMDR, IFS, and mindfulness training. Together, we will work to develop emotional and mental self-reliance so that you can live in the world as a confident, psychologically well, high-functioning, whole person. Healing and becoming resilient and strong in your psychological capacities is emancipating. This therapeutic work will help you achieve that freedom.

I graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Human Development from Brigham Young University in 2000 and a Masters of Arts degree in Counseling Education with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health from Adams State University in 2023. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful therapeutic tool that can be utilized for many issues including anxiety, trauma, addiction, eating disorder, anger issues and disturbing thoughts and memories. (A great website to reference for more information on this modality is EMDRIA.org.) I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) in the State of Colorado. Over the past 25 years, I have drawn great insight and personal growth through volunteering in schools and the community working with children, teens, and women in various capacities. My formal education, training, and volunteer work has provided me with a deep well of knowledge lending to my ability to come alongside you in your therapeutic experience in a mutual pursuit of healing and change.
